Quality Standards
Durham Precision Engineering has always placed a high level of emphasis on quality, from the way we deal with our clients to the manufacture of their items.
In 1991 we were one of the first toolmaking companies to be successfully assessed to BS 5750 part 2, thanks to our systems and procedures that were already in place.
We now hold ISO 9001:2008, which covers all of our manufacturing and design processes.
We believe strongly in continuous improvement which is why are always looking to develop our manufacturing methods and processes.
This is done by continual investment in systems, machinery and the training of our staff.

Durham Precision Engineering Facilities
Durham Precision Engineering Facilities
From the Company’s establishment in 1985 Durham Precision Engineering has built up an enviable reputation in the field of toolmaking and precision engineering.
The current “core” activity areas for the Company are:
- Special tooling design and manufacture
- Batch machining of components
- Design, manufacture and build of special purpose machines and equipment
- Manufacture of consumable items of tooling and spare parts
- Precision machining of models, prototypes
To facilitate these activities we operate from a 13,000 square feet purpose built factory equipped with modern up to date machinery. This enables us to carry out all client critical operations in house - under our own control.
This equipment ranges from standard machinery through to state of the art wire erosion equipment, and is complemented with both CNC milling and turning machines. A wide range of inspection equipment including a Co-ordinate Measuring Machine is located in a dedicated Inspection Department

In House Design
Our in house design service was introduced in 1989 and Durham Precision Engineering employs full time design engineers. All design work is carried out using up to date CAD. and 3D modelling equipment with modem and e-mail links facilitating data transfer with both clients and suppliers. CAM systems are also available to assist with the “off line” programming of CNC and wire erosion machinery.
Computerised Manufacturing Control System
Our computerised manufacturing control system allows us to track clients projects from the enquiry stage all the way through to delivery and invoicing. With this central store of information it means our staff can easily deal with clients requests and give feedback on how their projects are progressing while maintaining data for future reference.
